Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

This policy covers the Mise website at misemade.com and the Kitchen Playbook app for iPhone. They share one account, so anything you add in one shows up in the other. Kitchen Playbook is published on the App Store by Redman Creative LLC.

The short version: we collect what we need to plan your meals and fill your grocery cart, we don't sell it, and you can delete your account whenever you like.

1. What we collect

  • Account details: your email address, your name if you give one, and your password, stored only as a secure hash.
  • Household details: how many adults and kids you cook for, dietary needs, food allergies, and cooking preferences you set up.
  • Your recipes: recipes you import from a link or a photo or type in yourself, with their ingredients, instructions and tags.
  • Meal plans and pantry: your weekly plans, the dinners you swap or skip, pantry items, stock levels, and purchase rules.
  • Store and ZIP code: the ZIP code you type in to find a Kroger store and the store you choose. Neither the website nor the app reads your phone's GPS location.
  • Kroger connection: when you connect Kroger, Kroger gives us access and refresh tokens so we can search products and add items to your cart. You sign in on Kroger's own page, so we never see your Kroger password.
  • Subscription status: whether you're on a trial or subscribed, and your billing history. Stripe handles payments, so your card details stay with Stripe.
  • Messages you send us: feedback and support requests, from the website, the app, or email.
  • Website visits: the website uses Vercel Web Analytics and Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use. Our servers also keep basic logs (for example, when a plan was made or a cart was built) to keep the service running.

The Kitchen Playbook app doesn't include any analytics or advertising tools. On your iPhone, it keeps your sign-in in the iOS Keychain and saves a copy of your recent screens so you can see your week without a connection. Signing out clears both.

2. How we use it

  • Meal planning: to pick dinners for your week from your recipes, household details and preferences.
  • Grocery carts: to find products at your Kroger store, apply your purchase rules, and add groceries to your Kroger cart for you.
  • Email: to send plan reminders, cart updates, password resets, and the occasional product update. You can turn off the optional emails at any time.
  • Making the service better: we look at overall usage patterns to decide what to fix and build next.

3. What we don't do

  • ✓We don't sell your personal information.
  • ✓We don't share it with anyone for advertising or marketing.
  • ✓The app doesn't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • ✓We don't use your recipes or household details to train AI models.

A few companies help us run the service and receive only what they need to do that job:

  • Kroger: product search and your grocery cart, once you connect your account. See Kroger's Privacy Policy.
  • Stripe: subscription payments. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Anthropic: reads recipe photos you upload so we can turn them into recipes. Anthropic's commercial terms say it doesn't train its models on data sent this way. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
  • Resend: delivers our emails to your inbox.
  • Vercel and Neon: host the website, the app's server and the database.
  • Google Analytics: website visit counts only. The app doesn't use it.

4. Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data while your account is open so the service can work.

You can delete your account at any time. In the Kitchen Playbook app, open Settings, tap your name, then tap Delete account. On the website, go to Settings, then Account. Deleting your account cancels any active subscription and permanently erases your recipes, meal plans, pantry, rules, household details and Kroger connection. Stripe keeps the billing records it's required to keep, and we may keep overall usage numbers that aren't linked to you.

If you disconnect Kroger, we delete the stored Kroger tokens right away. Your Kroger account itself isn't affected.

5. Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), store passwords only as secure hashes, and keep Kroger tokens on our servers rather than on your phone. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password you don't use anywhere else, and let us know right away if you think someone else got into your account.

6. Kids

Mise and Kitchen Playbook are made for adults planning meals for their households. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. If we make a change that matters, we'll email you and update the date at the top.

8. Contact
